Description
Black-eyed Susan (Rudbeckia hirta) is one of many cheery members of the sunflower family that you may find in the park. Masses of these yellow flowers with distinctive dark centers may beautify the banks along Skyline Drive and hiking trails from June into September. The flowers are favorites of bees and other pollinators. Look for small orange-and-black Pearl Crescent butterflies partying among the petals all summer long.
