Description

After more than three decades of efforts first introduced by new Virginia congressman Henry D. Ford in 1901, Shenandoah National Park was officially established in late 1935 and President Franklin Delano Roosevelt formally opened Shenandoah National Park on July 3, 1936. Shenandoah National Park attracts more than a million visitors annually and encompasses 300 square miles of Blue Ridge Mountains in north-central Virginia.

Home to over 190 resident and transient bird species, over 50 species of mammals, over 50 reptile and amphibian species and more than 35 fish species, the park is also the only place in the world where Shenandoah salamanders live.

This hand-drawn, custom and original illustrated map of the park is the result of a collaborative partnership with the Shenandoah National Park Association.
